The quickest way to get a hard and unapproachable impression is to belong to a certain group. One example is club activities.

However, in the case of Yumina, she was limited to one club by a powerful force that could be called fate.

“Archery club…”

She had never played archery before, but she was attracted to it because of its name. However, there was no mention of the archery club on the list of clubs and societies in the shiny new student handbook. It is a shame that such a large school does not have an archery club. There is an archery club, but it seems a little different from Yumina’s image.

Yumina had already finished her meal of shrimp doria from the cafeteria, but she kept poking at the bottom of her plate with her fork, staring at her student handbook. Yumina is a girl who can’t do anything else when she’s thinking. The cafeteria is crowded with students at lunchtime, but for some reason, no one sits down on either side of Yumina or across from her. The students who watch her from afar have the same thought. They all want to get close to Yumina. But if you show such an aggressive stance even for a moment, you may be noticed by many other students who look at you with envy, and in an all-girls school where there is no escape, it means social death.

“Hmm…”

Without knowing their intentions, Yumina continued to worry about the non-existent club. At this rate, it is doubtful that she will be able to make any friends before she graduates.

Suddenly, Yumina spotted a student working to change the bulletin board near the clock in the cafeteria, about three meters away from her table. Yumina’s eyesight was reasonably good, so she could barely read the headline on the printout that the student had just put up.

What good timing. Maybe the archery club does exist. Yumina stood up with her lunch tray, politely greeted people at the return slot, cleaned up the dishes, and approached the bulletin board, oblivious to the hot stares around her.

“What’s the news?”

Yumina spoke to the student in charge.

“I wonder if the archery club will be added to the club page…”

At the sound of Yumina’s voice, the girl doesn’t even turn around and re-stick the thumbtacks.

“This is a notice regarding a correction in the student handbook.”

The girl replied in a cold voice, just as it was written on the printout. Yumina looked at the printout and said, “Which one is it?”. It is written, “History of the School, 17th President, Mariko Suzuhara, page 6: (Incorrect) Hula Dance Education Award -> (Correct) French Education Award”. This information is unimportant to Yumina right now.

“No archery club after all…”

Yumina mumbled and dropped her shoulders, and the girl beside her opened her mouth.

“We don’t have a kendo club or a judo club. The reason why is because Sunkist Academy is accused of imposing a self-righteous European education on its students.”

She continued angrily, looking over the board.

“But school culture is school culture. If you have a problem with it, you shouldn’t have enrolled.”

Yumina looked at the girl with a start. She felt that there was something different about this girl from the other students. Even though she is talking to her, the girl doesn’t seem to be nervous at all, her slender body silently peeling off and crumpling up the unauthorized posters in high places. This atmosphere that keeps others at bay is exactly what Yumina’s ideal image of a person should be. Yumina thought that if she became such a hard-headed woman, she wouldn’t have any romantic feelings from the same sex.

“Well. I have one question.”

“What is it?”

The girl didn’t look at Yumina once from earlier. Yumina loves this sense of distance.

“I want to be a hard person like you! I’m looking for a club where people like you gather!”

“…I see.”

“I wonder if you know of any.”

The girl was silent for a while, wiping the dust off the aluminum frame of the bulletin board with a tissue, and then opened her mouth.

“We don’t have a club, but we do have a group that’s very hardcore in a way that people don’t want to be around.”

“A group?”

“Yes.”

The girl gathered up her prints and thumbtacks and began to prepare to leave. She smiled a little.

“Even so, I was impressed by your high ambition not to be a frivolous woman.”

With her fingers, she carefully tidies up the slight mess her blazer has made while she was working. She seemed to be extremely meticulous.

“If you want, you can come to the roof of this building after school. I’m sure you can…”

At this point, the girl looked up for the first time and met Yumina’s eyes. The girl then stopped moving and dropped one of her thumbtacks on the floor.

“Hmm, um, what’s wrong?”

The girl was a slender student, a fist’s length shorter than Yumina. She had a young face, but her dignified eyes gave her a serious and cool impression. But now she is staring at Yumina with an expression that is more maidenly than cool, and Yumina doesn’t know why. I’m not sure if there’s anything on my face or not,” she said, touching her cheeks and mouth, but there didn’t seem to be anything there. Yumina decided to accept that even cool women have their moments of maidenly glances.

“Well, can I go over there and help?”

“Ah, umm… yes.”

The girl suddenly whispered and turned her eyes away from Yumina.

“It’s a tough job. If you are confident that you can handle it… you can come.”

The girl said something strange, which could be described as strong or weak, and turned her back on Yumina and walked away. Yumina said to the girl’s back.

“I’m Kuraki Yumina! I’ll do my best at any job! I want to be just like you!”

The girl stopped once instead of replying but left the cafeteria without looking back.

“I wonder if it’s the bulletin board.”

Yumina is a hard worker, so she’s not afraid to put in the work. She can get the simple and safe school life that she want by becoming a cool girl like that girl and avoiding unintentional contact with the same sex.

When she looked around, she saw a group of girls gathered behind the pillar clock, trying to eavesdrop on their interaction. When Yumina spotted them, they smiled affectionately at her and hurriedly dispersed. This kind of thing is a regular occurrence.

Now that she had a big day after school, Yumina stepped forward, thinking that she would go back to the classroom early to prepare for her French class. At that moment, she jumped up, her slim and beautiful thighs peeking out from her skirt.

“Ouch!”

A thumbtack had fallen.
